Received his National Doctoral Degree from National Cheng-Kung University (NCKU) in Taiwan R.O.C. in 1981, Hwung-Hweng Hwung is currently a professor in the Department of Hydraulics and Ocean Engineering, NCKU.  He has been serving as the Director of the Tainan Hydraulic Laboratory since 1981, and has been elected successively as the president of the Taiwan Ocean Engineering Association for the second round this autumn.

In recent decades, Professor Hwung had also been appointed as the coordinator of the Coastal Engineering Program at the National Science Council in Taiwan in light of his distinguished contribution to the development of oceanic engineering technology in Taiwan .

Also, being named as the director of NCKU-NSYSU Research Center of Ocean Environment and Technology, he plays a very significant role in the advances of research of Oceanic science and Engineering Technology not only domestically, but also internationally through enthusiastic interaction worldwide with oceanic scientific community.
